Sandy Wolfenden, Shawn Hyson & Carolyn Ferguson

Carolyn began Fairway Studios Framing in 1995 in Dad’s shed to frame her own artwork. Over a few short years the business grew to include Art Materials and Carolyn & Shawn moved the business “Down Town” to the Olympia Arcade in 2001.

Just before the arrival of their first child, Ben, they moved to their current location in 8a Moffatt Street in July 2003.

This is when we introduced Prints and a bigger range of Art Materials. Then in 2005 we introduced the Art Gallery.

In 2007 we purchased a framing shop in Moree. After the arrival of their second child, Zoe, in 2008, we decided to sell the Moree shop. This happened in March 2010.

In June 2010 we will celebrate our 15th Birthday.

Carolyn Ferguson

Carolyn began seriously painting and selling her farmyard “Chook” artwork in grade 12. Just after she graduated from High School she began framing with abandoned Floorboards from her old Primary School and a Hitachi Drop Saw. (Nowadays we have a fancy Double Mitre Saw)

She is a Certified Picture Framer and Design Consultant. She was among the first Framers in Australia to sit the exam in 2002.

Carolyn loves designing the perfect frame for people’s artworks. She also enjoys hanging the artwork in the Gallery.

Other than Framing, Carolyn loves cooking (especially Cupcakes & Italian), taking photos, being a mum to Ben & Zoe, and playing golf with Shawn.

Shawn Hyson

Shawn joined Fairway Studios in 1998. His first job was taping up the backs of frames. After marrying the boss, and intensive training…. he became a full-time framer in 2001.

After more studying he successfully sat the Certified Picture Framing exam in 2002. (He was among the first Framers in Australia to sit the exam).

Shawn loves attending training seminars to learn the latest framing techniques.

He also loves playing golf with Carolyn, reading the Sunday Paper, and enjoying time with Ben & Zoe.

Sandy Wolfenden

Sandy is a Design Consultant, picture frame assembler, and Art Gallery assistant. She joined the Fairway Studios Team in 2008.

Sandy happily attended the 2009 Framing Trade Show in Sydney where she learnt plenty of new framing techniques.

Sandy loves acting, dancing and especially singing. She adores spending time with her family, especially h

er little Grandson, Harvey.
